A Sight to See: 280+ Vehicles and 800 Attendees Cruise-In to GoPro Motorplex
Over 800 attendees enjoyed perusing the Victory Lap Cruise-In’s assortment of more than 280 classic and modern cars, trucks and motorcycles on display at GoPro Motorplex karting facility in Mooresville, NC Tuesday night. The event marked the second of three free Cruise-In events this summer at GoPro Motorplex.
Attendees enjoyed delicious food truck vendors and raffle prizes and the Cruise-In special discount on rental kart racing kept the race track full of back-to-back races in the facility’s fleet of 55 mph rental karts.
In addition, Cruise-In attendees were able to cast their vote for the People’s Choice Award. The crowd voted Billy Moose’s absolutely gorgeous 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air as their favorite, winning First Place in the People’s Choice Awards by a landslide.
“It took me five years to build it,” said Moose. “It’s a lot of car and a lot of fun to drive.”
First Place was awarded a brand new GoPro HERO4 camera. Coming in second in the People’s Choice Awards was Ed Vadnais 2010 Dodge Viper TA; model number one of its kind. Vadnais’ Viper took First Place in the June Cruise-In. Placing third in the People’s Choice Awards was Michael Jetzer’s 1967 Lamborghini P400 Miura.
In addition, attendees donated generously to raise over $100 to benefit Doug Herbert’s B.R.A.K.E.S Foundation whose mission is to prevent injuries and save lives by training and educating teenage drivers and their parents about the importance of safe and responsible driving. To conclude the evening, all Cruise-In vehicles paraded onto GoPro Motorplex’s 0.7-mile, 11-turn race track for a couple of laps. Attendees lined the fences to watch the parade of vehicles under the lights and sunset.
